A guide soon became an essential part of my itinerary to distant lands. For me, my guides have become the key element to the success of my visit.
In recent years my travel has taken me into rural districts of Korea, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and China.
Beijing Guide, Alan Gates, Goshawking, falconry in ChinaMy interest is falconry, and my reason to visit any country is to explore the rural regions to find any exponents of the art of falconry. Sometimes I have a few leads, maybe a name and maybe part of an address, with the help of my guide we piece together bits of information and set off and seek.
Without the help of a guide, stroke interpreter my quests would almost be impossible, but finding the right guide, an honest and reliable guide is a feat in itself.
This testimony is for one of those guides, a guide I met when first travelling through China on my way to Mongolia. I was using Beijing as a stopover and had a few days to kill both on the outward and return journey. I had concentrated most of my organisation on the end journey of Western Mongolia and picked a Beijing Guide off the internet at the last moment.
I could so easily have picked a lemon but luck would have it, and I engaged Jane Yeo.
After the exchange of a few emails where we agreed a price based on my itinerary and I arrived at Beijing airport to be met by a very cheerful, enthusiastic and welcoming young lady, namely Jane Yeo.
It was mid December and it was grey and cold in Beijing but Jane Yeo made those few days a wonderful and fun experience as we visited the sights of Beijing and surrounding tourist attractions.
Her knowledge of the main sights of Beijing and many of the “behind the scenes” sights are informative whilst being enjoyable. Her sense of humour and her excellent command of the Beijing Guide, Chinese country boyEnglish language adds to the experience of a visit to China’s capital.
My first trip was such a success and I was so impressed with the skill and dedication of this young lady, I arranged with her a trip the following autumn where we would explore central and southern China in a quest to find Chinese falconers.
This trip took Jane out of her normal guiding arena and presented her with a challenge that she passed with ease. So successful was this trip that I have returned to China a number of times and we have become close friends.
I have used Beijing as a “stopping off” port for my trips into Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan and during my stays in Beijing I have helped Jane escort clients around the sights of Beijing. I am always pleased to note that I am not alone in praising her ability in adding enjoyment and value for money for her clients visit to Beijing.
Beijing Guide, Falconers in Southern ChinaAt times, Jane is so popular and can not accommodate everyone who wish to hire her. To alleviate this problem she employs a number of other guides who she has personally approved. When one of her guides is working with a client, Jane is checking with the client to confirm they are satisfied and will not leave any problem undone. It is this attention to detail gives reassurance and makes Jane Yeo stand out as one of the best Beijing Guides.
